How often will I need treatment with laser?
- You will need to attend laser hair removal appointments every 4-6 weeks. This is because the hair follicle must be targeted at a specific point in their growth phase to prevent it from returning.
How many sessions will I need?
- If you are new to laser hair removal, Laserderm recommends a course of 8 sessions, however, this is variable in different individuals. The hairs in your follicles grow at varying rates, with each session we destroy more follicles, resulting in longer-lasting results for you. Most individuals need top-up sessions once or twice a year, but again this is variable.
What preparation is needed for laser treatment?
- You should avoid all forms of hair removal apart from shaving. You should not use hair removal creams, wax or tweeze hair, epilate, thread or bleach hair. All these methods of hair removal will reduce the efficacy of your laser hair removal treatment. You should also not use tanning beds, fake tan and tanning creams and avoid excessive sun exposure. Tanning methods can lighten your hair and darken your skin; this will affect your laser setting and make your treatment unsafe.
Who needs a patch test for laser?
- Everyone! Patch tests are essential to all individuals before proceeding with any laser treatment. Those who haven’t seen us in 6 months will also need to book a patch test prior to booking any treatment. This is to check for changes to medical history and recheck your laser settings as the skin can change over time.
How long do I need to wait to have laser treatment after the patch test?
- Following a patch test and consultation, you are required to wait 5-7 days to see if you experience any adverse effects from the patch test before booking your first treatment session.
What laser technology do we use?
- We use the latest Cynosure Cynosure Apopogee 5500.
Can all people have hair removal?
- Our medical-grade lasers are suitable for ALL skin tones. Laser hair removal is suitable for women and men, for the entire body, including the face and sensitive areas like the bikini line. There are certain medical conditions and medications which may make you unsuitable for laser treatment. Our expert therapists will be able to confirm your suitability during a consultation. You cannot have laser hair removal if you are pregnant or breast-feeding. If you become pregnant during your course, we are happy to extend the period you can complete your treatment from 12 to 24 months to allow you enough time to resume your treatment following a pregnancy.
What areas can I get laser?
- The whole body! You can have laser hair removal almost anywhere on the body, including the face and sensitive areas such as the bikini line and perianal area. If you are unsure about treating an area, the best thing is to discuss it with your aesthetician during a consultation, as they will be able to tell you what is suitable and unsuitable for treatment.
What areas are included in a full face laser hair removal treatment?
- Everything from the top of the forehead to under the chin!
How often do I need to have appointments for laser?
- Every 4 weeks for face, and 6 weeks for body, apart to get the best hair removal results.
Does laser hurt?
- Most are surprised by how little laser hair removal can hurt! Our clients usually find some areas feel more uncomfortable than others, but pain is very variable. Some describe the sensation as a rubber band snapping against the skin. We use a cold air machine directed onto the skin to make the treatment more comfortable for you.
What if I become pregnant during my course of laser hair removal sessions?
- You cannot have laser hair removal if you are pregnant or breast-feeding. If you become pregnant during your course, we are happy to extend the period you can complete your treatment from 12 to 24 months to allow you enough time to resume your treatment following a pregnancy.

1. ARRANGE YOUR CONSULTATION
A one-to-one consultation with one of our highly qualified practitioners to discuss the treatment and answer any questions you have.
2. HAVE YOUR PATCH TEST
Your practitioner will perform a simple laser patch test to ensure suitability for treatment.
3. BEGIN YOUR TREATMENT PLAN
- Shave before each session (the shorter the hair the less discomfort the treatment is)
- Can not do laser treatments if you are on any of the following medication: Roaccutane or cortisone oral or topical to the area we are treating.
- No Vit A, Retinol, AHA or any peeling agents should be used on the area we are treating 5 days before or 5 days after treatment.
- We cannot treat pregnant or breastfeeding women.
- We can treat any persons as long as they have started puberty for at least a year.
And no exercise for the rest of the day treatment is done on.
