    Symptoms

    Cold sore is fluid filled blisters on and around the mouth area.
    Also known as a fever blister, cold sore is a common type of the herpes virus and is spread from one-on-one contact such a kissing. Cold sore generally takes 2-4 weeks to heal.

    Symptoms include:

    • Itching or tingling feeling before the blister even appears.
    • Blisters forming grouped together
    • Discharge and crusting of the fluid from the blisters.

    Causes

    Cold sore commonly come from the herpes simplex virus from one-on-one contact.

    Risk Factors

    Anyone can develop cold sore. But you’re at increased risk if you:

    • Have a weakened immune system
    • Ill and fever
    • A lot of sun exposure or sunburn
    • Damage to the skin
    • Hormonal changes
